Job Introduction

HCRG Care Group is looking for a dedicated and compassionate Band 3 Care Support Worker to join our friendly and supportive Children’s Continuing Care Team. In this rewarding role, you will provide designated, high‑quality care for children with complex medical needs within the community and in their own homes. This is a part‑time role working 27 hours per week; however, we are happy to discuss alternative hours.
Main Responsibilities
* Caring for children in their own homes, including night, day and evening shifts, and responding to different health needs while parents get some rest.
* Being confident to look after children with complex health needs and requiring medical technology such as ventilators, feeding tubes, and oxygen.
* Receiving full training in all aspects of a child’s care and working alongside a trained colleague while learning new skills, which are reviewed regularly.
* Keeping accurate records of the care provided.
* Communicating effectively and professionally with children and their families.
* Working to and providing care in line with the child’s care plan.
* Recognising when a child’s health is deteriorating and following the advice and actions outlined in the care plan.

The Ideal Candidate – Essential Qualifications
* Understanding the impact of providing care in the home for children with complex medical needs and their families.
* Ability to participate in training of new staff in a variety of settings, including theory training and training within family homes.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a car.
* Willingness to travel across Wiltshire and Banes as required.
* Flexible and reliable.
* Willingness to work towards the ‘experienced to teach’ part of the Competency Framework.
* Excellent oral and written communication skills.
* Ability to relate to children.
* Adaptable and motivated.
* Must maintain confidentiality.
* Trustworthy.
* Caring, patient and observant.
* Ability to learn theoretical and practical skills.
The Ideal Candidate – Desirable Qualifications
* NVQ Level 3 in health or social care or a recognised nursery nurse qualification.
* GCSE in Maths and English.
* British Sign Language level 1.
* Makaton.
* Experience of relevant clinical procedures and technology dependence.
* Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with children with complex health needs.
* Minimum of 1 year’s experience working with children in other settings, e.g. nursery or respite service.
* Recognise own strengths and weaknesses.
* Recognise own needs for support and development.
Package Description
As a Care Support Worker, you will be based at Derby Court, Wiltshire. You will receive a competitive salary of £25,500 – £27,098 pro rata, with access to a group pension.
