Wakefield Council is looking for an ambitious, experienced, and self-motivated individual to join their Internal Audit Team as an internal audit manager. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in providing elected Members and senior management with assurance on whether there are effective governance, risk management,and control arrangements for the delivery of corporate and service priorities.

There will be a requirement to work on your own initiative and help manage a small team of audit staff to deliver a risk-based internal audit plan.
The role will also require the successful candidate to function as a 'critical friend' to corporate directorate management team(s) and operational staff. This will involve the delivery of individual pieces of assurance work and the provision of consultancy services (for example being part of corporate projects).
This is a varied role and part of a supportive team with ongoing development opportunities.
