Job Summary

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated ARRS GP to join our clinical team on a fixed‑term contract from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.

The successful candidate will provide primary medical services to our patients, including conducting GP surgeries and consultations, assessing, diagnosing and managing patients, undertaking clinical administration and record keeping, and contributing to clinical governance and practice meetings.


Key Responsibilities

* Undertake face‑to‑face, telephone or digital consultations.
* Assess, diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
* Prescribe and review medication in accordance with best practice and local guidelines.
* Maintain accurate and contemporaneous clinical records.
* Complete clinical administration: review results, manage correspondence and referrals.
* Collaborate with GPs, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, nurses and allied health professionals.
* Participate in clinical governance, practice meetings and quality improvement initiatives.
* Support continuity of care and effective multidisciplinary working.
* Engage in CPD and GMC revalidation.


About Urmston Group Practice

Urmston Group Practice is a friendly, well‑established GP practice serving approximately 13,000 patients in the Trafford area. The multidisciplinary team includes 4 GP Partners, 6 salaried GPs, 2 Advanced Nurse Practitioners, 3 practice nurses, a nursing associate and a GP assistant, supported by an experienced administrative and reception team.


Contract & Salary

* Contract: Fixed‑term, 12 months, from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027.
* Hours: 3 sessions per week (12.5 hrs), worked over 2 days.
* Salary: £30,900 per annum (pro‑rate).
* Protected CPD time: one week per year (pro‑rate).


Eligibility and Requirements

* Operating under the Additional Roles Reimbursement Scheme (ARRS).
Obtained Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) within the previous two years.
Not having previously held a substantive GP post.
* Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) and inclusion on the NHS Performers List.
* Current UK professional registration.
* Compliance with DBS, indemnity and standard NHS employment checks.


Qualifications

* Essential: MBBS or equivalent, fully registered with GMC, evidence of completion of GP specialty training (CCT) or due to obtain CCT prior to commencing the post, NHS performers list inclusion.
* Desirable: Additional postgraduate qualifications relevant to primary care; further training or professional development.


Experience

* Essential: Up‑to‑date knowledge of clinical guidelines and best practice in primary care; experience managing acute and chronic conditions; ability to manage complex needs; safeguarding responsibilities for adults and children.
* Desirable: Experience working in UK general practice; experience within a multidisciplinary primary care team; involvement in clinical audit or quality improvement.


Skills and Abilities

* Essential: Excellent clinical assessment and diagnostic skills; time management; strong communication and interpersonal skills; teamwork; good IT skills; documentation competence.
* Desirable: Experience using primary care clinical systems; interest in developing specialist clinical areas.

* Commitment to high‑quality, patient‑centred care; flexibility; ongoing CPD; governance and patient safety understanding; equality, diversity and inclusion commitment.


Other Responsibilities

* Work flexibly to meet practice needs.
* Comply with health, safety, safeguarding, confidentiality and information governance.
* Undertake other reasonable duties as a salaried GP.
