Volunteer Accountant – Wandering Emotions CIC | Wandering Emotions
Join to apply for the Volunteer Accountant – Wandering Emotions CIC | Wandering Emotions role at Wandering Emotions.
We are dedicated to improving family wellbeing through nature based activities. We are looking for an accountant to help us strengthen our financial management and ensure our resources are used effectively to support the families we engage with.
What difference will you make?
By volunteering your accounting skills, you’ll be helping Wandering Emotions CIC build a stable financial foundation. This will allow us to focus on what we do best — supporting families to explore and express their emotions through creativity, play and connection. Your contribution will directly strengthen our sustainability, enabling us to reach more individuals and communities who benefit from our work.
What are we looking for?
* Skills: Ability to organise, reconcile, and prepare annual accounts accurately. Clear written and verbal communication, especially for explaining financial concepts to non-specialists. Experience in budgeting, forecasting, and general financial administration is highly beneficial.
* Experience: Previous experience in accounting, finance, bookkeeping, or financial administration (voluntary or paid). Familiarity with charity or not-for-profit finance is advantageous, including knowledge of relevant regulations and reporting requirements.
* Qualities: Attention to detail and methodical approach to managing financial records. Reliability and commitment to fulfilling role responsibilities and deadlines. Ability to work discreetly, maintain confidentiality, and exercise good judgement. A collaborative, approachable attitude, with willingness to support and advise less experienced colleagues.
What will you be doing?
We are seeking a volunteer accountant who can provide financial oversight for our small but ambitious CIC. What we’d like you to do:
* Review and support the preparation of our financial records and reports.
* Help us manage budgets, track spend against funding, and ensure compliance with CIC reporting requirements.
* Advise on best practices in financial management to improve our internal systems.
* Support us in preparing annual accounts and liaising with external stakeholders, such as funders or regulators.
* Key deliverables: Accurate, up-to-date financial systems and reports. Clear annual accounts prepared for submission. Guidance that gives our team confidence in managing finances sustainably.
Who you will work with
You will collaborate directly with our Director and core team, who are deeply passionate about our mission but do not have specialist financial expertise.
Flexibility
The role is not set in stone – while we see the above tasks as priorities, we are open to shaping the role around your expertise and the time you can reasonably contribute. Whether it’s a hands-on role or more advisory in nature, your support will make a significant difference.
