Role Overview:
Morgan Philips Specialist Recruitment is representing a world-leading professional services firm in their search for an Assistant General Counsel to join their in-house legal team. The candidate should be an experienced commercial lawyer specializing in technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI. The role involves providing practical, business-focused legal advice globally.
Key Accountabilities:
Provide legal support on a wide range of legal and regulatory matters for a global professional services organization.
Advise on technology, data privacy, data protection, AI, and related matters; support day-to-day commercial and regulatory legal issues.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and network policies across jurisdictions.
Support Technology and Risk Management teams with legal expertise.
Develop and implement governance, policies, procedures, and playbooks.
Review and advise on new services, solutions, and governance processes, focusing on legal and regulatory issues related to technology, data privacy, data protection, and AI.
Manage external legal counsel in multiple jurisdictions efficiently and cost-effectively.
Provide practical advice balancing risk management and business needs.
Present on legal topics and write articles for knowledge sharing.
Mentor junior team members.
About You:
UK-qualified lawyer with significant experience, preferably from a major law firm or relevant in-house experience.
Strong legal skills with the ability to handle complex legal and regulatory issues.
Strategic risk management skills with quick issue identification and mitigation recommendations.
Experience negotiating, drafting, and reviewing agreements across jurisdictions.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively, managing complex files and stakeholders.
Capable of balancing legal risk and business growth in a fast-paced, global environment.
Self-motivated with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
