Screening Strategic Programme Manager (Band 8a) – Pan Lothian
This part‑time post (28.8 hours per week) is located within the Public Health Directorate and provides leadership across four screening programmes: Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm, Diabetic Eye, Lung Cancer and Pregnancy & Newborn screening.
The postholder will lead a team of Public Health Project Managers, working closely with heads of the relevant clinical services to ensure effective delivery of the screening programmes across the whole pathway.
* Provide public health leadership across the four screening programmes.
* Lead and develop a team of Public Health Project Managers.
* Collaborate with clinical service heads to guarantee effective programme delivery.
* Drive initiatives to strengthen screening programmes, promote equity of access and reduce health inequalities.
* Offer public health advice and expertise, support incident investigations and uphold effective governance.
* Facilitate collaboration across programme pathways and deliver improved health outcomes.
Success in this role requires a highly motivated individual with strong communication skills, an in-depth understanding of inequalities in health and screening programmes, and a significant proven track record in public health. Proven experience in screening is valuable.
Qualifications and requirements:
* Extensive specialist public health knowledge underpinned by theory and experience.
* Demonstrated ability to provide consistent, engaging leadership that empowers others.
* Expertise in public health advice within complex multidisciplinary teams.
* PVG Scheme membership/record required; if not current, a successful application to Disclosure Scotland must be made.
* Legal permission to work in the United Kingdom.
The postholder will work within NHS Lothian across the City of Edinburgh, West Lothian, East Lothian and Midlothian local authorities, serving a population of 900,000.
Salary is pro‑rata based on the part‑time hours.
