At The Exploding Bakery, we make premium traybakes designed for great cafés. For the last 15 years we’ve been on a mission to do things differently. We champion exceptional ingredients, support farmers and producers, and develop flavour combinations that really stand out on the counter.
Our cakes are served in hundreds of cafés across the UK and through leading wholesale partners, and as we continue to grow, we’re looking for a Regional Sales Manager based in London or the South East to help expand our presence across London and the South East.
This is primarily a new business role, focused on connecting with great cafés and coffee businesses across the region. Mainly, you’ll spend your time out visiting some of the best cafés in the country, introducing them to our cakes and helping them build standout cake counters.
You’ll also work closely with our wholesale partners to unlock new opportunities and help bring The Exploding Bakery to more counters across the region.
What you’ll be doing:
Your week will typically involve 3–4 days visiting cafés and prospects, with the remaining time spent managing leads and planning your pipeline.
* Connecting with the best cafés in London and the South East to identify new opportunities
* Leading the full sales journey, from first conversation to winning new accounts
* Working with our wholesale partners to generate leads and mutual opportunities
* Building relationships with existing customers to help grow their orders
* Keeping a clear and organised pipeline in our CRM
* Supporting opportunities with group and national café accounts
* Representing The Exploding Bakery at trade shows, tastings and industry events
Around 80% of the role is new business, with the remaining time spent developing existing customers and partnerships.
About you:
We're looking for someone who enjoys getting out and meeting people, and who genuinely loves the world of cafés, food and coffee.
* Have 2–5 years’ experience in sales or business development
* Be confident prospecting, pitching and winning new customers
* Be comfortable working independently in a field-based role
* Enjoy building relationships with independent businesses
* Be proactive and comfortable building opportunities in a largely untapped region
* Have a genuine interest in coffee, great ingredients and premium food
* Experience in foodservice, coffee, bakery or premium food brands would be beneficial, but it’s not essential
The role:
* Location: London / South East (field-based)
* Working pattern: Remote with regular travel across the region
* Occasional visits to our Exeter HQ and national travel
* Competitive salary dependant on experience, plus expenses
This is a newly created role where you’ll really be able to own the area and make the patch your own.
You’ll be joining our small but ambitious team, supported by our Head of Sales, marketing department and NPD team.
