Site Fitter (Staircase and Handrail Specialist)
Location: National – M4 Corridor
Salary: £20.00 per hour, negotiable DOE: Overtime paid at time and a half. Subsistence of £25.00 per night paid while staying away.
Contract: Permanent, Full time
Basic Hours:
• Monday-Thursday = 8:00 – 17:00
• Friday = 9:00 – 14:30
• These are our core hours. As the majority of our work is in the London area it will regularly be required that the successful applicant starts earlier than this to get to site in good time in the morning. Where multiple consecutive days are required in London, accommodation in the area will be arranged.

Site Fitter - Overview:
We are looking for a highly skilled site fitter specialising in Staircase and Handrail installations to join our team. This role requires hands-on experience in installing bespoke staircases and handrail systems – many of which will be of a curved nature with continuous handrails. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong craftmanship, attention to detail and the ability to deliver high-end finishes.
Site Fitter – Job Summary:
As a skilled Site fitter, you are expected to install high-end bespoke staircases, staircase furniture and handrail systems to an exemplary standard. You will need to interpret technical drawings and work under your own initiative to ensure that all installations are installed with precision and finesse.
This role will be primarily site-based, so the successful applicant must be prepared to travel and stay overnight through the week, and liaise directly with customers across the UK.
Duties:
As a skilled Site Fitter, you will be expected to take ownership of:
• Making sure everything that is needed for the job is loaded onto your vehicle prior to departure.
• Installing Staircases, Staircase Furniture, Balustrades to a high standards. On occasion this will also extend to other joinery items however the role will primarily focus on staircases.
• Be able to work under your own initiative and be able to work well with your site labourer to actively solve any problems you may encounter on site.
• Be able to Read and work from technical drawings accurately.
• Install staircase and handrail components on-site with precision and attention to alignment and structural integrity
• Collaborate with design teams and clients to meet project expectations and timelines
• Perform repairs and adjustments to existing handrails and staircases as needed
• Maintaining equipment and supplies required for the role. This includes woodworking machinery, tools, PPE and taking care of your vehicle.
The successful applicant should be able to:
• Work autonomously and use own initiative
• Complete work to tight schedules and deadlines
• Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance to Health and Safety at Work Regulations and Codes of Practice
• Wear protective clothing as supplied and attend all training when requested.
• Carry out any other duties within the business as may be allocated from time to time.
Site Fitter - Person specification:
Required:
• The successful applicant will have proven experience as a Joiner or Carpenter specifically with staircases Staircases (ideally with experience of installing continuous/curved balustrades)
• Expertise in working with curved and continuous handrails
• Abillity to interpret and work from CAD drawings and designs
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools and woodworking machines.
• Physical ability to carry out heavy lifting and extended periods of standing or bending.
• Strong problem-solving skills and commitment to high quality results.
• Up-to-date and clean driving licence is essential.
