Job Title: Residential Practitioner
Salary: £27,711 - £30,060 (pro rata) + weekend/night enhancements & sleep-in allowance
Contract: Permanent | Hours: Various (full-time, part-time, waking nights)
Location: Children’s Homes across Leeds
Summary:
Leeds City Council is looking for compassionate Residential Practitioners to support children and young people in residential care. You'll help them grow into confident, independent adults by providing day-to-day care, building trusting relationships, and supporting emotional, educational, and developmental needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Deliver safe, nurturing care and promote personal development
Act as a key worker, implementing care and support plans
Support with education, health, and social engagement
Manage challenging behaviour sensitively and restoratively
Work collaboratively with families and professionals
Perform personal care where necessary
Keep accurate, GDPR-compliant recordsRequirements:
Level 3 Diploma in Residential Child Care (or willingness to complete – funded by employer)
Recent experience with vulnerable children/young people
Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills
Flexibility to work shifts, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-ins
