Salary: Up to £69,000 + Package

About the Lead Electrical Design Engineer Role
We are seeking a Lead Electrical Design Engineer to join our team in Wolverhampton.
You will lead electrical project design teams delivering complex engineering solutions from concept through to handover. Projects typically involve large-scale, high-integrity machinery and process systems for highly regulated environments, covering full lifecycle design, integration and commissioning.
These include advanced control systems, automation solutions, and safety-critical instrumentation for major Energy, Research & Defence Infrastructure & process facilities.
Key Responsibilities of Lead Electrical Design Engineer
Lead electrical design work packages within budget and schedule
Supervise and verify design deliverables including schematics, GA drawings, cable schedules, FDS, and software documentation
Produce control panel designs including General Arrangements, detailed drawings, schematic diagrams, interlock diagrams for PLC & HMI hardware, motor starters & drives, safety circuits, instrumentation, and power distribution
Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and liaise with manufacturing, testing, and commissioning teams
Ensure compliance with UK H&S legislation and relevant standards
Participate in HAZOP and design reviews
Manage design change control and contract variations
What We're Looking For in a Lead Electrical Design Engineer
HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
Extensive electrical design engineering experience
Prior experience leading other Electrical / EC&I Engineers on projects
Proficient in AutoCAD/AutoCAD Electrical and MS Office
Knowledge of British/European standards and IEC 61508 (advantageous)
Ability to gain UK Security Clearance

Up to £60k starting salary

Pension: 5% employer / 5% employee + Death in Service (3× salary)
