Salary: £49,221 - £53,826 per annum (pro-rata for part-time) (Pay award Pending)

Leicestershire County Council is seeking an exceptional Special Educational Needs Assessment (SENA) Team Manager to play a pivotal role within our high performing SEND service. This is a fantastic opportunity to lead practice, support staff and drive high quality statutory delivery for families across Leicestershire.

About the Role

As a SENA Team Manager, you will support the SENA Service Manager in the strategic and operational leadership of the service, providing strong management oversight to Case Managers and Senior Case Managers. You will ensure the Education, Health and Care (EHC) assessment, planning and review processes are delivered to a consistently high standard, within statutory timescales, and with children and families at the centre of everything we do.

This key leadership role involves:

1. Managing and supervising SENA staff to deliver high quality assessments, plans and reviews
2. Ensuring compliance with statutory duties under the SEND Code of Practice
3. Driving performance management, quality assurance and continuous practice improvement
4. Working collaboratively with schools, early years settings, FE colleges, health, social care and other partners
5. Contributing to service development, policy implementation and thematic leadership
6. Supporting effective budget management and value for money decision making
7. Representing the service at SEND panels, multi agency forums and partnership meetings
8. You will be a visible, confident leader who can balance operational grip with a strong commitment to inclusive, child centred practice.

About You

To apply for this post, you must be able to evidence in your application how you meet the following criteria:

9. Relevant BTEC Higher, relevant NVQ Level 4 or equivalent and substantial experience, or equivalent work experiences.
10. Recent and relevant experience of managing a team, with the ability to manage people and resources to create more effective and efficient service delivery.
11. Demonstrate knowledge of the concepts and implications of special educational needs, including knowledge of current educational legislation, regulations and guidance as they apply to special educational needs.
12. Ability to analyse and present data, including the ability to analyse complex legislation and guidance and interpret performance information to inform decision‑making.
13. Ability to present information in clear written form for a variety of audiences, including experience of presenting information and arguments in formal settings.
14. Ability to work in partnership with parents and staff from other agencies, demonstrating the ability to inspire confidence in the public and colleagues.
15. Be highly motivated, flexible and able to use initiative, dependable and able to meet deadlines when under pressure.
