Your company
My client supports primarily highway projects across the East Midlands, taking them from conception to completion. Their services include maintenance, electrical works, mechanics, construction, environmental, civil engineering, and more.
Their environmental team operates across acoustics, contaminated land, ecology, GIS, landscape design, and planning. You’ll be supporting a team of ecologists working on projects ranging from major highways, planning, educational buildings, to residential developments.
Your new role
My client is seeking an experienced Ecologist to join the environmental management & design team, ideally based in Nottinghamshire but open to remote work.
You will assist the ecology team with technical oversight, project management, and environmental service delivery. This is a part-time role of 2-3 days a week.
Main duties include:
* Providing expert ecological advice to colleagues, clients, and external parties
* Leading, coaching, and developing junior ecologists
* Leading ecological surveys (protected species, habitats, etc.)
* Writing detailed ecological reports
* Ensuring the successful delivery of ecology consultancy projects
* Liaising with clients to meet financial targets and stakeholder requirements
What you'll need to succeed
- A Degree in Environment, Ecology, or a related field
- Ecology experience with relevant UK legislation in a consultancy setting; offering technical project oversight
- Ability to lead and support a team
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- A driving license and access to a car; willingness to travel to Nottingham at least once a month
- Membership with CIEEM (desirable)
- Protected species licenses (bats, badgers, GCN) (desirable)
- GIS or relevant software knowledge (desirable)
