Salary: £35,412 - £46,142 (Career Grade)

Working Arrangements: Hybrid – 3 days office, 2 days home-based

Hours per week: 37

Contract type: Permanent

Security Requirement: Basic Criminal Record Check

Additional compliance: Reasonable account of significant periods (6 months or more in the past 3 years) living abroad; must provide all necessary legal documents for work (e.g., valid visa); organisation does not sponsor visas.

Pensions Regulations may reduce pension if returning to local government service; seek advice from relevant authority.


Job Overview

An exciting opportunity to join Barnsley Council’s Strategic Purchasing, Procurement and Contract Management team to support delivery of the Council Plan and strengthen contract management capability.


Key Responsibilities

* Monitor and manage supplier performance to ensure value for money and compliance with contract requirements.
* Maintain and manage contract data, documentation, and payment processes.
* Identify and support resolution of contract performance issues and breaches.
* Support implementation of systems and improvements to contract management processes.
* Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to ensure effective contract delivery.


Qualifications & Experience

* Experience supporting contract management or similar commercial activity.
* Ability to work with data, systems, and documentation.
* Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
* Proactive, organised, and able to manage a varied workload.
