About the role
We're excited to share that we're expanding our service to support long‑term residential placements alongside our established short‑break respite care. This exciting development means you'll be part of a team offering a broader range of support to individuals and families, helping us make a lasting difference. If you have experience in a care setting and are seeking to take the next step in your career, our Residential Support Worker role could be an excellent fit for you. In this role, you'll support and uplift young people, thoughtfully managing risks, fostering resilience, and ensuring their wellbeing remains a top priority. Your dedication to person-centred care and commitment to strong social care values will enable you to make a positive, lasting impact on the lives of the children and young individuals in our care.
At our Silverton Short Breaks Service, we provide meaningful support for children and young individuals aged 5 to 18 with disabilities. Our goal is to enrich their daily lives by encouraging participation, promoting independence, offering new opportunities, building friendships, and fostering engagement within the community. Additionally, this service provides invaluable respite for parents and caregivers, offering them peace of mind that their loved ones are enjoying a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment. This is a great opportunity to make a significant impact on the lives of those we support.
How you'll help to create brighter futures
Some key responsibilities of the Residential Support Worker roles are;
* Provide lead case/care planning management, including assessing, reviewing and managing risk.
* Co-ordinating responsibilities within the service, with multi agency and producing family information, including analysis and written reports.
* Attendance at professional meetings including reviews, court work etc.
* Making sure our young people are safe and cared for when they are away from home.
* Assisting in all aspects of their daily lives and supporting their health and happiness.
* Supporting and participating with keyworkers to maintain an up-to-date Plan for young people.
Let's talk about you
Are you resilient and have a positive approach to change and challenge? We're looking for someone with a 'can do' attitude to join our team. Ideally you'll have:
* Possess HNC in social care (or recognised equivalent) and an SVQ3 in Social Care – Children and Young People within 5 years of taking up the post.
* Demonstrable experience of working in a care setting and developing positive relationships through trust.
* Application of a range of techniques to co-ordinate and communicate with service users and their families.
* Demonstrate a solution focused approach to address problems, individually and in a team setting.
* Demonstrate emotional resilience to respond to the challenging nature of the role.
