Paint Shop Supervisor
Location: Glasgow
Salary: £55k-£57k
Hours: Monday to Friday - 37 hours per week

Syntech Recruitment are working with a trusted client who are looking for a Paint Shop Supervisor to lead and actively participate in the coating and finishing of high-specification technical components supplied to Tier 1 OEM customers.
This is a hands‑on leadership role, with accountability for daily paint operations including quality, safety, delivery, and continuous improvement. You will lead a small team while remaining directly involved in paint and finishing activities on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities
Operational Leadership
* Lead, supervise, and motivate a small paint operations team, setting the standard through a hands‑on approach
* Plan and prioritise workloads to meet production schedules and customer delivery requirements
* Ensure paint processes are carried out consistently in line with specifications and documented standards
Hands‑On Paint Operations
* Carry out surface preparation, masking, coating, curing, and inspection activities as required
* Set up, operate, and maintain paint equipment, spray booths, and curing ovens
* Identify and troubleshoot paint defects and process issues, implementing corrective actions
Quality & Compliance
* Ensure all work meets internal quality standards and customer specifications expected by Tier 1 OEMs
* Maintain process control documentation, work instructions, and inspection records
* Support internal and external audits and ensure compliance with industry and regulatory requirements
Continuous Improvement
* Identify and drive improvements in efficiency, quality, cost, and process flow
* Support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
* Assist with training and development of team members to build capability and resilience
Skills & Experience
Essential
* Proven experience in a paint operations environment (industrial, aerospace, automotive, or similar high‑spec manufacturing)
* Strong hands‑on painting and surface finishing skills
* Previous experience leading or supervising a small production team
* Understanding of quality‑critical manufacturing and customer specifications
* High attention to detail with pride in workmanship
* Good communication and leadership skills
Desirable
* Experience working with Tier 1 OEM customers or within regulated manufacturing environments
* Knowledge of lean manufacturing or continuous improvement methodologies
* Experience supporting audits and quality management systems
* Formal qualification or certification in coating, surface finishing, or manufacturing supervision
