Hinkley Point C is the UK’s first new build nuclear power station in a generation that is critical to the UK NetZero targets.
All roles on the project require key behaviours which support the Zero Harm objective, a questioning attitude, and drive to uphold the standards of safety and quality required by this prestigious project. A committed strong work ethic is essential at all levels.
All candidates are expected to demonstrate their knowledge and experience where possible directly related to the criteria required for the role. It is acknowledged that previous Nuclear based experience will not always be possible, as such supporting with project research and how individual skills may be transferable will be important.
Accountabilities:
* Provide clear unequivocal HSE leadership across all Dalkia.
* Advise the HPC Dalkia Operations Director and Nuclear sector Director on all HSES matters.
* Develop, implement, and maintain proactive and reactive monitoring systems to ensure the effectiveness of the Dalkia HSES policy.
* Ensure all worksites have a robust “hazard” identification and clear “Child RAMS/ Parent RAMS” in place that detail effective control measures.
* Devise & implement a positive HSES culture across all levels.
* Ensure learning from experience and continuous business improvement is adopted throughout Dalkia operations.
* Accountable for reporting all incidents.
* Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental legislation, regulations, and standards.
* Lead the development, implementation, and continual improvement of health and safety management systems in line with company policies and ISO standards (e.g., ISO 45001).
* Act as the focal point for all health and safety matters on-site or within the business unit.
* Promote a positive health and safety culture across the organisation and actively support behavioural safety initiatives.
* Ensure effective incident investigation, root cause analysis, and timely implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
* Provide assurance to senior leadership through data reporting, audits, and compliance reviews.
* Lead or contribute to risk assessments, method statement reviews, and safe systems of work approvals.
* Establish effective ‘downward’ communication systems and management engagement.
* Engage the workforce in the promotion and achievement of safe and healthy work environments.
* Provide high-quality training based on a risk-managed approach.
* Own, draft, and maintain relevant H&S documentation including processes, procedures, etc.
* Implement performance monitoring and reporting, including regular monthly dashboards with real-time KPIs.
* Contribute to project lead team reviews, meetings, and discussions to set and maintain project objectives and performance.
Minimum Qualifications/Experience:
* An industry-recognized qualification such as the NEBOSH Level 6 Diploma or equivalent.
* Experience of maintaining or reaching externally audited management standards such as ISO 45001.
* Credible experience in health and safety, including operations experience.
* Experience managing workplace well-being would be advantageous.
* Confident in engaging and managing stakeholders.
* Excellent organisation skills and ability to manage a broad portfolio of activities.
* A proven track record of project management.
* Positive, can-do attitude with a customer service focus.
