A prestigious US law firm with a well-established presence in London is seeking a talented and driven Tax Lawyer Associate (2+ PQE) to join its dynamic and highly collaborative Tax team. The firm is renowned for its expertise in advising multinational corporations, financial institutions, and private equity firms on complex, cross-border tax matters, including strategic tax planning, structuring, and implementation for high-value transactions.
About the Team
The Tax team brings extensive experience in managing sophisticated tax issues across multiple jurisdictions. They provide innovative and commercially sound tax advice on:
* Strategic tax planning and structuring for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, financings, and reorganizations.
* Cross-border tax controversies, including transfer pricing and competent authority matters.
* Dispute resolution, handling tax audits, investigations, and negotiations with tax authorities.
* Private equity, investment funds, and financial products structuring from a tax perspective.
* International tax advisory, including US and UK tax laws, EU regulations, and global tax policy developments.
The Role
The firm is looking for a highly motivated Tax Lawyer Associate (2+ PQE) to play a key role in advising clients on tax-efficient solutions for complex international transactions. The successful candidate will work closely with senior attorneys and clients to deliver strategic advice in high-stakes matters.
Key Responsibilities
* Advising on UK, US, and international tax law issues related to corporate transactions, investment structuring, and financing arrangements.
* Providing technical guidance on cross-border tax planning, transfer pricing, and tax treaty applications.
* Assisting with tax controversy and dispute resolution matters, including audits, litigation, and settlements.
* Conducting in-depth legal research and drafting advisory memos, tax opinions, and transactional documents.
* Collaborating with other practice groups on multi-jurisdictional deals, ensuring seamless tax structuring and compliance.
* Engaging with clients to provide commercially viable tax strategies and risk assessments.
* Keeping up to date with changes in international tax laws and their implications for global businesses.
Candidate Requirements
* England & Wales/dual qualified solicitor with a minimum of 2 + years’ PQE post-qualification experience (PQE) in tax law at a top-tier law firm.
* Strong academic credentials with a degree in Law (LLB or equivalent). A postgraduate qualification in Tax Law (LLM or CTA) is advantageous.
* Experience in advising on complex cross-border tax matters, including corporate and transactional tax issues.
* Exposure to international tax regimes, including US tax law, would be beneficial but not essential.
* Excellent analytical, research, and drafting skills.
* Strong client-facing and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.
* A proactive, team-oriented approach with a commitment to professional development.
