Safety Engineer
Location – Cambridge
Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 DOE

Shifts: Monday – Friday – Days
Role: Design Safety Engineer – Hydrogen / Process Safety
We are looking for a highly experienced Design Safety Engineer to be the go-to technical authority on product and process safety for innovative hydrogen and process plant equipment. This isn’t a standard H&S role – it’s about embedding safety into design from the ground up.
Responsibilities
* You’ll be advising a talented design team, interpreting legislation, and ensuring compliance with PED, ATEX, DSEAR, and PSSR – translating regs into practical engineering solutions.
* Lead design risk assessments, guide design reviews, define hazardous area zoning, and ensure trial plans and equipment meet the highest safety standards.
Required Skills & Experience
* Senior/Principal-level safety engineering in hydrogen, oil & gas, pharma, or process industries
* Strong working knowledge of PED, ATEX, DSEAR, PSSR
* Ability to read drawings, lead HAZOPs, and produce compliance documentation
* Experience with high-pressure systems and explosive atmosphere controls
* Proven experience in advising design teams to ensure that compliance is met within product and equipment design
