Overview
We are looking for a talented and motivated Engineer to join our dynamic Development Infrastructure team in Cambridge. This full-time role offers flexible working conditions, with a minimum of three days in the office and the option for adjusted start and finish times. You will create innovative solutions to today’s global challenges, contributing to sustainable designs and providing integrated multi-disciplinary consultancy services to our clients.
Role scope
You will be involved in a diverse range of private sector projects, including Residential, Energy and Commercial Developments. From project inception to detailed design and construction, your contributions will span the delivery of design solutions and coordination with other disciplines.
Responsibilities
* Work as part of the Development Infrastructure team on projects in the residential, energy and commercial sectors; undertake and check delivery of design solutions and coordinate with other disciplines.
* Contribute to projects from conception to completion, including supporting the Project Manager to clarify the project brief, deliverables, milestones, and project methodology.
* Undertake elements of detailed design and check outputs (calculations, models, drawings, sketches, reports) to achieve optimum project solutions; document and communicate design changes to the Project Manager.
* Take ownership of the quality of work, ensuring delivery to agreed timescales and compliance with the Company Integrated Management System and health and safety legislation.
* Learn from experienced colleagues and progress towards greater independence and responsibility on projects.
What does the role involve?
As a member of the Development Infrastructure team, you will deliver design solutions for projects across residential, energy and commercial sectors, acting as an Engineer to undertake and check design outputs and coordinate with other disciplines. You will support the Project Manager to clarify briefs, agree deliverables and milestones, and contribute to detailed design tasks, checks, and reporting.
Qualifications & experience
* A collaborative attitude and a desire to work in a team.
* A Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent; ideally accredited by the Engineering Council to support your professional qualification path.
* Post-qualification engineering design experience in residential, energy or commercial sectors; understanding of S104, S38 and S278 agreements.
* Minimum of three years’ post-graduate experience for Engineer level.
* Experience with civil infrastructure modelling software (ideally Civil 3D; other tools such as PDS, OpenRoads) and essential AutoCAD.
* Experience with drainage design tools (InfoDrainage, MicroDrainage, Flow).
* Proficiency in MS Office 365.
* Experience in resource or project commercial management.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a practical, innovative approach.
* Good organization and ability to prioritise workloads to meet timescales.
* Willingness to travel to sites and offices within the UK; driving licence is helpful but not essential.
