About The Business Unit

Mott MacDonald’s Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit delivers both project, programme & commercial management (PPCM) services and advisory solutions across the built environment, defence, energy, water, environmental, transportation, health and care sectors.

We deliver tailored solutions that directly address our clients’ key challenges, combining our world‑leading project expertise with unrivalled programme delivery capabilities and advisory services.

APD serves projects ranging in scale and complexity up to £20bn, through technical disciplines such as programme management, project management, project controls, scheduling, cost management, estimating, infrastructure finance, management consulting, digital consulting and education, and health and care management.

Our strategic advisory capabilities help executive teams articulate future state of their enterprise, programme or problem that aligns people, processes, information and technology, and we enable climate resilience, digital transformation, and environmental and social outcomes.

Overview Of The Role

We’re seeking a Consultant to join our dynamic and expanding Industrialised Design and Construction (IDC) team. This role is an exciting opportunity for someone with hands‑on experience in Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) and Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), passionate about driving innovation and digital transformation in the built environment.

Whether you’re recently chartered or working towards professional accreditation with a recognised body (e.g., ICE, IStructE, IMechE, IET, CIAT, CIBSE, CIOB, RICS, RIBA), this role offers a chance to shape future construction delivery across major infrastructure programmes.

Our team is actively working across multiple sectors including Buildings (Healthcare, Education, Cities), Water & Environment and Nuclear.

You will support the delivery of strategic and technical advisory services across a range of sectors to industrialisation and MMC advisors to infrastructure owners and programmes across the UK and overseas. You’ll work with clients, design teams, manufacturers and contractors to embed DfMA, MMC, and platform‑based approaches into projects and programmes.

Key Responsibilities And Duties

* Support the development and implementation of IDC strategies across client portfolios and programmes, contributing to measurable improvements in delivery efficiency and consistency.
* Apply DfMA and MMC principles to optimise design, delivery, and operational outcomes—demonstrating value through improved constructability, reduced waste, or enhanced programme certainty.
* Contribute to the creation and use of standardised tools, methods, and delivery models, helping to embed repeatable, scalable solutions across projects.
* Assist in the development of IDC metrics and performance indicators, enabling data‑driven decision‑making and continuous improvement across the value chain.
* Support the creation of case studies, lessons learned, and a library of proven IDC approaches, ensuring knowledge is captured, shared and applied effectively.
* Engage in capacity building activities, including mentoring other staff and contributing to internal knowledge sharing to grow the next generation of IDC practitioners.
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure IDC principles are integrated from concept to completion, fostering a culture of cross‑functional innovation.
* Contribute to the development of digital tools and data models that support industrialised delivery, enhancing transparency, traceability, and automation.
* Participate in client workshops, stakeholder engagement, and delivery assurance activities, building trusted relationships and reinforcing Mott MacDonald’s reputation for excellence in IDC.
