Electronics Engineer
Hours:
35 hours per week
Location:
Central London (at least 2 days per week, including Wednesdays), with remote working for the remainder (subject to change depending on business needs).
About the Role
We are seeking an Electronics Engineer to join a dynamic health technology team developing innovative, non-invasive sensor systems for advanced medical applications. The work focuses on creating scalable and accessible solutions that improve early detection, reduce healthcare costs, and enhance patient outcomes.
As a key member of the hardware team, you will take ownership of hands-on hardware development, with an emphasis on analogue and mixed-signal design. Your responsibilities will range from troubleshooting and refining circuits to running experiments that inform algorithm development. You will also support preparation for regulatory testing, maintain lab hardware, and contribute to long-term technology roadmaps.
Technical Highlights
* Low-noise analogue front-end design for capacitive sensing applications
* Precision small signal routing and conditioning (filters, amplifiers, multiplexers)
* High-speed ADC/DAC integration and mixed-signal circuit optimisation
* Schematic capture, PCB layout, BOM management (Altium Designer)
* Circuit modelling and simulation (SPICE, MATLAB, or similar tools)
* Designing to meet IEC 60601 and related medical device standards, within an ISO 13485 compliant QMS
Key Responsibilities
* Lead hardware development activities from ideation and prototyping to optimisation and maintenance
* Plan and conduct benchtop experiments in collaboration with algorithms and clinical teams
* Manage and maintain prototype hardware for studies and trials, ensuring reliability and identifying design improvements
* Support verification, validation, and compliance testing with regulatory partners
* Contribute to design reviews, documentation, and alignment with quality management processes
* Provide technical input into long-term technology roadmaps to shape future biosensing devices
Requirements
Essential
* Master's degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or related discipline, OR 3+ years' experience in a highly regulated industry
* Strong knowledge of analogue circuit design, including low-noise front ends, filters, amplifiers, and signal conditioning
* Proven experience with schematic capture and PCB layout using industry-standard design software
* Proficiency with test and measurement equipment (oscilloscopes, VNAs, spectrum analysers, waveform generators, etc.)
* Excellent documentation and reporting skills (Office 365, Atlassian suite)
* Experience with design control processes: requirements capture, verification, traceability, and documentation
* Experience working within a quality management system
Desirable
* FPGA experience and associated design considerations
* Python skills for data processing and test automation
* Background in medical device development
* Experience with biosensors or low-amplitude analogue acquisition systems (impedance, ECG/EEG, oximetry, etc.)
* Basic knowledge of mechanical considerations in electronics design (thermal management, enclosures, connectors, etc.)
* Familiarity with FEM simulations of electromagnetics
* Embedded code development and GitHub/Bitbucket for source control
* Strong commitment to producing high-quality work in a regulated environment
Benefits
* Share options
* Private medical and dental cover
* 5% employer pension contribution
* Life and health insurance
* Lunch allowance when working onsite
* Flexible working model (2 days/week onsite, remote at company discretion)
* 25 days annual leave
* Bonus scheme (subject to milestones and policies)
How We Work
The team is a close-knit group of scientists and engineers who value solving complex problems and seeing them through to impact. Everyone has the opportunity to shape both the technology and the culture, with a strong emphasis on accountability, collaboration, and transparent communication. Growth comes through meaningful work, shared learning, and open knowledge exchange.
If you want to contribute to technology that makes a real difference while working alongside passionate peers, this could be the role for you.
