The service at GWC and SLG provides high quality, comprehensive services for people living with HIV with the aim of empowerment, allowing people to live well. The service has a strong focus on interdisciplinary teamwork, where many patients are co-managed via a wider multidisciplinary team.
We are looking for a dedicated and highly motivated individual to join our friendly and hardworking nursing team who would like a challenge within the field of HIV. This opportunity will provide the selected individual with the opportunity to develop their competencies as a band 5 and gain a strong set of skills within the field of HIV, which will allow for further development.
The HIV network service offers a variety of opportunities and development including;

Main duties of the job
To work supported within the multidisciplinary team to provide continuing care to patients attending for outpatient care.
To supervise and teach junior members of staff and learners as required, and maintain own personal development with support.
To be a safe, knowledgeable and effective practitioner at all times
To provide high quality nursing care to patients and their families, in accordance with agreed policies.

Essential criteria
6. Intravenous accreditation
7. Phlebotomy/Cannulation skills
8. Ability to prioritize clinical work effectively
9. Can show a non-judgmental approach to patient care
10. Ability to identify deteriorating patients. Experienced nurses will show skills in ward/dept management (nurse in charge skills)
11. Ability to carry out essential and appropriate nursing care and procedures
12. Demonstrate awareness of the nursing care needed by HIV patients
13. Experienced nurses will have clinical competence in providing HIV, sexual health care and specialist HIV drug administration and teaching junior staff
14. Ability to work within set timeframes working to priorities and deadlines
15. Able to recognize own limits and work within those limits of competence
16. Ability to store data/ information safely and correctly
17. Ability to work flexible hours to meet service requirements
18. Sufficient to perform the duties of the post with any aids and adaptations
19. Acts in a way that is consistent with legislation, policies and procedures and abide by the Trust Health and Safety policies
