A client within the Public Sector, based in Cambridgeshire, is currently recruiting for an Assistant Project Manager to join their Highways & Transport team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis (initial 6-month assignment), with the ideal candidate having experience working within a local authority highways environment, delivering capital projects.
The Role
The key purpose of the role is to support the delivery of low to medium complexity highway improvement projects, ensuring schemes are managed effectively through the full project lifecycle and delivered in line with time, cost, and quality expectations.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Supporting the delivery of capital highway and transport improvement projects
• Assisting with project planning, monitoring, and reporting across multiple schemes
• Coordinating with internal teams, consultants, and external stakeholders
• Attending site visits and monitoring works on site
• Supporting risk management, cost control, and programme delivery
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
• A relevant qualification in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working within Highways & Transport in a similar role
• Proven experience delivering capital projects within a local authority setting
The below skills would be beneficial for the role: • Strong understanding of the project lifecycle for highway improvement schemes
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £220 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £150 per hour PAYE).
