Environment Agency – Commercial Assurance & Framework Management (CAFM)

Role Overview
This role supports the Commercial Governance team that oversees contracts with key consultancies and contractors to maximise value for money and deliver on the Agency’s legacy objectives. You will also help set up and manage pathfinder programmes that embed best practice and develop long‑term partnership arrangements.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide commercial governance and assurance for contracts with consultancies and contractors.
* Develop, implement and manage pathway programmes that embed best practice in commercial management.
* Work closely with Integrated Delivery Management teams and the wider Project Management community to champion effective governance.
* Maintain relationships with external partners, demonstrating commercial interpretation skills within a high performing team.
* Support incident response duties when required as part of the Agency’s commitment to community safety.
* Prepare minutes and draft reports documenting decisions and actions.
* Engage in ongoing professional development, including NEC and CIPS training where appropriate.
Essential Education / Skills / Behaviours
* A‑Level qualifications or level 3 equivalent.
* Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
* Experience of stakeholder management.
* Competence in data and document management.
* Commercial acumen – ability to analyse business situations, assess risk and deliver value for money.
* Organisational skills, including the ability to write minutes and draft reports.
* Willingness to pursue professional qualifications (e.g. NEC training, CIPS).
* Interest in infrastructure, construction or environmental programmes.
Desired Education / Professional Requirements
* Degree or equivalent professional qualification or experience.
* Progress towards recognised professional bodies such as ICE, CIWEM, APM, CIPS or RICS.
* Formal training in contract management (e.g. NEC, Contract Management Capability Programme).
