Salary: £29,228 (pro rata actual = £5,845.6) per annum rising to £29,890 (pro rata actual £5,978) per annum on successful completion of probation.
Hours: 7.5 hours per week
Holiday: 25 days annual holiday entitlement increasing to 30 days after 5 years’ service per annum plus bank holidays (pro rata)
Base: Cattedown Primary Care Centre
Area Covered: Plymouth City – no travel
Contract: 1-year fixed term.
About the Role
To provide therapeutic support to children aged 5–10 who have been sexually abused. Working one day per week, seeing four children per day.
Working within a small team of counsellors.
Key responsibilities:
* Provide counselling services to young people aged 5–10 referred via appropriate channels regarding sexual violence or abuse, including pre-trial therapy where relevant.
* Undertake administrative duties such as electronic case management, client assessments, contracting, user feedback, and providing statistical caseload data for quarterly reports.
* Conduct individual assessments and develop creative therapeutic approaches based on client needs.
* Consistently meet all KPIs for the service and support adult services in achieving theirs if possible.
Minimum Requirements:
* Diploma in counselling Level 4 or above.
* Experience working with children.
* Experience working with individuals who have been sexually abused.
* Proficiency in Microsoft and other IT applications.
* Sound knowledge of Child Protection and Safeguarding policies.
