Berry Recruitment is NOW hiring for a committed and experienced Warehouse Manager to work for our client in Abingdon, Oxfordshire.
Role: Dispatch Operative
Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum
Location: Abingdon, Oxfordshire
Key Responsibilities of the Dispatch Operative:
* Oversee all warehouse operations, including receiving, storage, order picking, packing, and shipping.
* Manage a team of 6-10 warehouse staff: recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance reviews.
* Maintain inventory accuracy through data entry, regular cycle counts, and reconciliation with our Warehouse Management System (WMS).
* Implement and enforce health & safety policies, ensuring 100% compliance with HSE standards.
* Liaise with operations, transport planners, and customers to meet service-level agreements (SLAs).
* Manage equipment maintenance schedules and liaise with external contractors for repairs to ensure compliance with policies and procedures.
About you:
* Proven experience (3+ years) as a Warehouse Supervisor/Manager in a fast-paced logistics or warehouse environment.
* Strong knowledge of warehouse management systems.
* Demonstrable leadership skills with the ability to develop, coach, and motivate a frontline team.
* A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to thrive under pressure.
* Excellent organisational and analytical abilities, with a keen eye for detail.
* Strong communication skills—able to liaise effectively with cross-functional teams, customers, suppliers, and delivery drivers.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word).
Desirable Attributes:
* Qualification / experience in team management or training.
* Forklift licence.
