Role Overview
Our client, a renowned sporting institution, is looking for an experienced commercial lawyer to join their team based in London. The role involves advising on commercial contracts, data protection, intellectual property, and broader legal risks to help protect the organisation’s interests and reputation. This is a fixed term contract role, likely to last 12-15 months depending on start date.
Key Responsibilities
* Providing clear, commercially‑focused legal advice to our client on all commercial and non‑contentious matters.
* Drafting, negotiating, and managing commercial agreements including sponsorship, licensing, technology, event‑related, funding, and supplier contracts.
* Advising on matters associated with competitions and events run by the organisation.
* Advising on data protection and intellectual property issues.
* Identifying and managing legal and reputational risks.
* Liaising with external counsel where appropriate.
* This role requires three days per week in the office.
Candidate Profile & Requirements
* Willingness to work on a fixed term contract basis (unfortunately we are unable to consider applicants who are only open to permanent employment).
* Right to work in the UK.
* 8+ years’ post‑qualification experience as a solicitor.
* Strong experience in commercial and non‑contentious matters, including drafting and negotiation.
* High professional ethics, sound judgement, and the ability to deliver clear, concise advice.
* Ability to work effectively under pressure and manage competing priorities.
* Strong stakeholder management, planning, and time‑management skills.
* Whilst experience in sport, or adjacent sectors such as media or entertainment, can be advantageous, our client would like to encourage lawyers from other industries with strong commercial/TMT expertise and a genuine interest in sport to apply.
