At Complii, we are seeking a Compliance & Technical Director for Fire to take single-point executive accountability for technical integrity, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, competency governance, and fire risk management across all fire disciplines.
This role holds ultimate technical authority across active fire systems, passive fire protection, mechanical smoke control systems, and Fire Risk Assessments, including full lifecycle governance covering design, installation, commissioning, maintenance, inspection, and remediation activities.
From day one, the focus is on strengthening governance, reducing technical and regulatory exposure, and providing the Board with demonstrable assurance that fire risk is being managed robustly, consistently, and in line with statutory obligations.
What you receive for joining us
We believe in rewarding expertise and accountability, which is why we offer an excellent salary, a performance-related bonus, and a car allowance. This also includes 25 days’ holiday plus bank holidays, an additional day off for your birthday, a collaborative and values-led working environment, and the opportunity to work closely with senior technical and leadership teams who value evidence-based decision making and professional judgement.
Here is a look at some of the things you will be doing
• Implementation and monitoring of technical and compliance standards across all fire disciplines, ensuring alignment between fire strategies, design, installation, and maintenance
• Reviewing technical decisions, including non-standard designs, product substitutions, high-risk FRAs, and value engineering proposals, escalating where appropriate
• Assisting with responses to regulators, Fire Authorities, insurers, and external advisors, ensuring documentation and evidence of compliance is accurate and accessible
• Contributing to reporting on fire risk, audits, incidents, and compliance performance, supporting investigations and the delivery of corrective actions
Can you show experience in some of these areas
• Technical or compliance experience within fire safety, life safety, or the built environment, with a solid understanding of UK fire and building safety legislation
• Experience supporting governance activities such as FRAs, audits, inspections, or competency frameworks across one or more fire disciplines
• A professional, confident approach to identifying and managing technical and regulatory risk, with the ability to challenge constructively when needed
• Clear communication skills, good technical judgement, and the ability to document decisions in a structured and auditable way
Even if you don’t meet every requirement above, we’d still love to hear from you. This role offers the opportunity to deepen your technical influence, build credibility at a senior level, and contribute meaningfully to fire risk governance across the group
