Overview

Procurement Project Manager required by a global engineering company for an initial 12-month contract. The Procurement Project Manager sets the framework of the relationships between each project core-team and external suppliers, focusing on supplier scouting, selection, and contracts, and monitors that supplier-related tasks and risks are controlled within the project scope. The Procurement Team mission is to support the client’s finished products business strategy by developing and managing upstream business relationships with a reliable base of preferred external suppliers that enhances the company’s competitiveness and customer satisfaction. The team focuses on direct product-related parts (raw materials, components, sub-assemblies) and direct product-related services (e.g., sterilization).


Responsibilities

* Serve as the Strategic Procurement entry point for each Project Manager and own each procurement work package; act as the Procurement Category Manager for small projects with mono-category topics, or as Project Manager for global coordination of complex, multi-category projects.
* Identify suitable suppliers in the I2P project for subsequent series production and related services, according to requirements from Product Development, Supply Chain Management and Quality analyses.
* Prepare and manage RFQ/RFI/RFP processes with a focus on optimal BOM costs, high material quality and availability, and take into account contract locations (Total Cost of Ownership).
* Prepare NDAs and development contracts related to component cost assumptions and identify cost reduction opportunities within the project scope.
* Support project design choices according to procurement constraints and cost drivers; develop the project sourcing plan and ensure follow-up throughout the project timeline.
* Align project strategy and category strategy with stakeholders; perform make-or-buy analyses and communicate mandatory project inputs on time (project planning, component specifications, component forecasts, etc.).
* Lead supplier scouting, selection and contracting in close alignment with the responsible Contract Management team; monitor component-related costs during the project timeline for approval by the Project Manager.
* Direct procurement activities in collaboration with suppliers during the project timeline for the acquisition of new externally produced components, assemblies and services; initiate and monitor PPAP processes for qualification of new components or manufacturing processes.
* Support inter-company transactions for component sampling and procurement; manage the ordering process for project-relevant components, assemblies and services.
* Maintain confidentiality of project strategies and procurement topics; use only relevant information when engaging internal and external stakeholders within scope.

Autonomy and Responsibilities

For assigned projects, from project birth until the start of regular production, the Procurement Project Manager is accountable for Strategic Procurement related deliverables.

* Professional experience in industrial/mechanical engineering or business administration. Strategic Procurement or Supply Chain specialties are a plus.
* Relevant professional experience in Supplier Relationship Management in a global industrial environment; experience in Strategic Procurement Management and/or Supply Chain Management. Project Management or Supplier Quality experience is a plus.
* Solid track record in achieving sustainable value through effective supplier management. Contracting knowledge is a plus.
* Strong leadership, communication and negotiation skills where applicable.
* Ability to coordinate within a cross-functional project network.
* Excellent use of MS Office; SAP experience is a plus.
* Excellent command of English; French or German are a plus.
* Identification with corporate values: sustainability, openness, joy.
