This has created the opportunity for the recruitment of an Apprentice Business Accountant.

As a dedicated provider of community services our strategy is to bring more care closer to home this means providing a wider range of services in community settings to keep people healthier for longer and developing more specialist services to support people to live independently at home. From this restructure an exciting opportunity has arisen which will genuinely support the growth and delivery of services in the community.
Main duties of the job
* To provide high quality and detailed financial management information and general business advice service to the Cost Centre level managers
* To support the Directorate Accountant and the Senior Business Accountant in the provision of comprehensive business and financial management information providing advice to the Cost Centre Level Managers and working both as part of a team and independently as required
* To provide support to Cost Centre Level Managers in the delivery of high quality and timely financial advice and information.
* To produce timely, accurate and relevant information for the completion of monthly reports and provide management with relevant information and advice to take corrective action on under/overspent budgets within the cost centres, where necessary.
* To provide financial data and information relating to the Cost Centre budgets in relation to then enable accurate financial reporting to feed into the service line reporting process

* Job Accountabilities:
* To lead the compilation of detailed budgetary information, provide monthly and ad hoc financial management information for Cost Centre level budget holders, and resolve budget queries in a tactful, timely and efficient manner.
* To analyse, investigate and resolve financial queries and budget variances, and provide managers with the relevant information such as trend analysis and reconciliations to advise Cost Centre level budget holders to take corrective action on under/overspent budgets.
* To attend monthly management team meetings for Cost Centre service areas and advise on financial/business performance.
* To ensure that all changes in service or developments are identified, resource implications quantified and reported to the Directorate Accountant/ Senior Business Accountant and the relevant budget holder/Manager.
* To assist the Senior Business Accountant and the Directorate Accountant in the production of monthly financial statements/ reports for the Division including the production and review of journals.
* To support the Cost Centre level managers in the development of CIP schemes.
* Support the Financial Accounts team in matters relating to SBS/ Oracle Financials or general accounting issues incl. payroll files, resus files, ESR, other feeder files.
* To undertake option appraisals of local business investment proposals.
* Calculating monthly recharges to both internal budgets and external customers relating to services provided, and resolve financial issues from customers in a tactful and timely manner.
* To assist in the education and training of budget holders, ensuring Standing Financial Instructions and NHS accounting procedures are communicated in a simplified form to non-finance people and are understood and applied in all areas of the division.
* To co-ordinate and ensure routine monthly financial tasks undertaken across all Directorates are completed according to deadlines.
* To assist the completion of the vacancy control forms ensuring posts are funded and authorised by the budget holder.
* To assist and contribute in the development of the Trusts computerised ledger systems and coding structure.
* To support the Directorate Accountant and Senior Business Accountant in the development of Service Line Reporting (finance).
* To maintain appropriate procedure records and audit trails for all major tasks undertaken.
* To identify and contribute to the enhancement of working practices and conditions.
* To provide advice on workplace routines to new or less experienced employees in own work area.
* To constantly review the outputs from the trust computerised finance systems including the regular production of monthly reports and propose developments to enhance service provision.
* To support the Cost Centre Budget Manager in his/her duties where appropriate and hub support teams e.g. HR/ Information/ Risk.
* To support finance colleagues in the division or other divisions as and when necessary/ appropriate.
* To work with finance and non finance colleagues to ensure that the Trust maintains the FT status.
To contribute to the annual business plan and to help with the production of objectives for the Department.

This entails the risk assessment of all situations, the taking of appropriate actions and reporting of all incidents, near misses and hazards, and a statutory duty of care for their own personal safety and that of others who may be affected by their acts or omissions.
