Account Manager | The Railway Shop (Hybrid – West Yorkshire)


About Us

The Railway Shop has been supplying the UK rail industry since 2015. We’re based in Knottingley and focus on doing the basics properly, reliable supply, quick turnaround, and straight answers.

Our team comes from the industry, so we understand how sites operate and what clients actually need. That’s why contractors and project teams come back to us.

We’re also the UK distributor for RailLight®, a product that’s changing how railway sites are lit and managed safely.

We’re growing, and we need someone who can take ownership of client relationships and help drive that growth.


The Role

This is a hybrid role based in West Yorkshire. You’ll split your time between the office, visiting clients across the UK, and working remotely.

You’ll manage existing accounts, build new relationships, and make sure clients get what they need without delays or excuses.


What You’ll Be Doing

* Managing a portfolio of existing customers
* Building new relationships across the rail sector
* Handling enquiries and turning them into orders
* Working closely with the internal team to get orders processed correctly and on time
* Producing quotes and following them through to completion
* Visiting clients, attending meetings, and representing the business
* Keeping records up to date and reporting on activity


What We’re Looking For

* Experience in account management, sales, or a customer-facing role
* Strong communication skills—clear, direct, and professional
* Organised and able to manage multiple priorities
* Someone who takes ownership and doesn’t need chasing
* Comfortable working independently and as part of a small team
* Willing to travel for client visits and industry events
* Rail, construction, or infrastructure experience is useful but not essential
* Full UK driving licence
