We are looking for someone with amazing people skills, who is organised and experienced, to be the cafe events manager at The Rhynd. You must have a passion for local food and drink and want to lead a small, passionate and fast-paced team.
The successful applicant must have several years' experience in the hospitality sector and be adept at both organising the café behind the scenes and providing amazing customer service. As well as working in the café and coordinating the staff and service, the successful applicant will also spearhead our wine safaris, supper clubs and forest feasts. Whilst the cafe does require supervison there is a need for events experience to run the additional events we offer.
Experience in fine dining would be a bonus, as would a previous managerial position.
The role would also include support on the weddings and larger events – taking some viewings and office support to the team as and when needed.
The working week would be Wednesday to Sunday, with days off on Monday and Tuesday (the café is open Friday to Sunday) and the successful applicant must have a full, clean driving licence.
What is The Rhynd Café?
Based just outside Leuchars, The Rhynd Café heroes local produce and our head chef, Jack Baldwin, makes everything on site. Having worked at a Michelin level, food quality is everything to us and we want the service to match.
Last year, we started our wine safaris and forest feasts, which involved a walk through the woods, trying local drink and canapés, before sitting down in a stretch tent overlooking the Fife countryside. The five-course menu, cooked over an Argentinian grill, had wine paired with each course and finished by the open fire with petit fours and night caps. Our 2025 summer dates have been released and a third of them have already sold out.
Our winter supper club series brings fine dining and delicious food, again heroing local produce, and are limited to just 20 guests. The intimate evenings are lit by 223 candles and these too are mostly sold out.
The role would include:
· Managing the service and front of house in The Rhynd Café
· Implementing weekly staff training
· Controlling costs and always looking for improvement
· Providing excellent, consistent customer of service whether in the café or on a forest feast
· Coordinating reservations and seating
· Maintaining cleanliness
· Handling enquiries
· Coming up with new events and income streams
· Ordering food and doing regular stock checks
· Taking ownership of our café events, from table set up, to ticket sales and after event follow ups
