Job Summary
As Compliance Manager, you will lead product compliance efforts for the UK business, ensuring that all products meet relevant UK, EU, and global regulatory and environmental standards. Based in our UK office and reporting to the Head of Supply Chain & ESG, this role is pivotal in safeguarding A2V’s compliance integrity across a diverse portfolio, while supporting broader sustainability and quality objectives.
This is a senior role requiring a robust understanding of product safety, regulatory frameworks, and sustainable sourcing. The successful candidate will have hands-on experience managing compliance processes end-to-end and driving continuous improvement in documentation, risk assessment, and regulatory awareness.
Key Responsibilities1. Strategic Compliance Leadership
* Lead the compliance process for designated product categories across the UK and EU markets.
* Review product specifications, assess compliance risks, and guide development teams through certification and testing requirements.
2. Regulatory Assurance
* Ensure compliance with UKCA, CE, REACH, General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR), and other applicable legal frameworks.
* Stay current with regulatory developments and translate them into actionable policies and processes within the business.
3. Process Management & Documentation
* Oversee the preparation and maintenance of technical documentation including declarations of conformity, risk assessments, and supporting files.
* Maintain audit-ready compliance records, supporting both internal needs and those of retail partners.
4. Sustainability Integration
* Collaborate with the ESG team to support sustainability initiatives within the compliance function.
* Provide guidance on certified material use where applicable, including standards such as FSC for paper goods and OEKO-TEX® for textiles.
5. Team Collaboration & Support
* Act as the main compliance contact for your categories within the UK office.
* Support cross-functional teams during the development process with clear, pragmatic compliance advice.
6. External Partner Coordination
* Liaise with testing laboratories, certification bodies, and regulatory consultants to ensure accurate, timely assessments.
* Coordinate with suppliers to maintain accurate and up-to-date compliance documentation.
7. Risk Management
* Conduct product risk assessments and propose mitigation strategies where appropriate.
* Flag potential issues early and support the safe and timely launch of new products.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in a product compliance or quality assurance role, ideally within consumer goods, home, gift, or stationery sectors.
* Strong knowledge of UK and EU regulatory frameworks (UKCA, CE, REACH, GPSR).
* Familiarity with sustainability certifications such as FSC and OEKO-TEX® is a plus.
* Experience with product testing, documentation, and certification management.
* Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.
* A passion for sustainability and ethical product development.
