Marine Underwriter
Salary - £100,000
London/ hybrid
We are partnering with a growing Syndicate who are looking for an ambitious Underwriter to be their business presence for Marine insurance in the London market.
This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic business. In this role you will play a key role in developing and expanding their Marine and Aviation portfolio.
Appetite:
* Marine Open Covers and Single Shipments for imports, exports, and domestic transit
* Stock Throughput risks
* Coverage: Loss or damage during transport, theft, war, and terrorism
* Clients: SMEs to multinational corporations in sectors including Agriculture, Oil & Gas, Consumer Products, and Heavy Lift Cargo
* Territories: Africa and the Middle East
Role Responsibilities:
* Underwrite and lead the Marine and Aviation portfolio in London
* Actively contribute to achieving the team business plan and overall business strategy
* Seek out and accept risks compliant with the organisation’s standards and risk appetite
* Ensure underwriting decisions are profitable and comply with syndicate guidelines
* Identify and develop new business opportunities
* Act as a role model, promoting the organisation’s brand and culture internally and externally
* Mentor and develop junior underwriters as the portfolio grows, with potential to lead a London-based team
Experience & Skills:
* Experience in Cargo and Marine Liabilities (freight forwarders, hauliers, ports, terminals) is essential. Ability to underwrite Aviation business highly advantageous – specifically Airline Hull (‘All Risks’) and Aircraft Hull & Liability
* French or Portuguese language skills are a plus.
