We have a unique opportunity for a Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor (MHA) to join Northpoint’s Mental Health Hub, working hybrid across the Leeds Student Medical Practice (LSMP), The Light Surgery (TLS), and Small Mill, Leeds. This is a front‑facing, rewarding role supporting adults with mild to moderate mental health needs through timely triage, brief intervention, and signposting. You will join us on a fixed-term contract, part-time (14 hours per week), with a competitive salary and employer pension contribution. Why us? Alongside the Mental Health Hub, we provide therapeutic interventions, school‑based support, and lead local mental health partnerships with ICBs and NHS Trusts. What We Offer Part-time: 14 hours per week (fixed-term contract, Maternity Cover (9 Months ) Salary: Agenda for Change Band 5, £31,049 28 days’ annual leave (pro rata) plus statutory holidays Up to 3 discretionary leave days at Christmas Employer pension contribution (defined contribution scheme) Structured line management supervision Clinical supervision within work time (or funded externally where agreed) Peer support and CPD workshops Flexible working opportunities A collaborative, inclusive and values-driven culture What you will be doing as our Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor (MHA) As our Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor, you will: Provide face-to-face and telephone triage within the Mental Health Hub Conduct biopsychosocial assessments, including risk assessment (self-harm, suicide, safeguarding, vulnerability) Identify presenting needs such as anxiety, depression, panic, sleep difficulties and situational distress Deliver short-term, psychologically informed interventions including coping strategies and psychoeducation Provide supportive conversations that empower individuals to understand and manage their challenges Determine appropriate next steps – brief intervention, signposting or onward referral Work collaboratively across Primary Care, Secondary Care and Third Sector partners This role requires sound clinical judgement, confidence in risk assessment, and the ability to work within service targets while maintaining compassionate, person-centred care. What are we looking for in our Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor A relevant Level 3 qualification (or psychology graduate) with solid experience supporting adults with mild to moderate mental health needs At least two years’ experience in a mental health setting, including assessment and risk management Confidence delivering brief, psychologically informed, time-limited interventions Strong knowledge of safeguarding, confidentiality and safe practice Excellent communication skills and confidence using core IT systems A compassionate, inclusive approach with a genuine commitment to empowerment and co-production If you have the skills, knowledge, and passion to make a difference, please click ‘Apply’ to be considered for our Mental Health and Wellbeing Advisor role.
