Conveyancer / MLRO (Dual Role) - Wirral
Overview
An established and growing legal practice on the Wirral is seeking an experienced Conveyancer / Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) to join its team. This is a key dual-role position combining fee‑earning residential conveyancing work with responsibility for overseeing and maintaining the firm’s anti‑money laundering (AML) compliance framework.
Key Responsibilities
Conveyancing Duties
* Manage a full caseload of residential conveyancing matters from instruction through to completion
* Handle sales, purchases, remortgages, transfers of equity, and leasehold transactions
* Provide clear, practical advice to clients and maintain strong client relationships
* Liaise with agents, lenders, and other solicitors to ensure smooth progression of transactions
* Ensure files are managed efficiently and in line with regulatory and internal standards
MLRO Duties
* Act as the firm’s appointed MLRO and oversee AML compliance
* Develop, implement, and maintain AML policies, controls, and procedures
* Review and assess suspicious activity reports (SARs) and determine appropriate action
* Ensure compliance with current AML legislation and regulatory requirements
* Deliver internal training and guidance on AML and compliance matters
* Conduct file audits and risk assessments
* Act as a point of contact for regulatory bodies where required
Requirements
* Qualified Solicitor, Licensed Conveyancer, or experienced non‑qualified conveyancer with a strong track record
* Proven experience managing a residential conveyancing caseload independently
* Solid understanding of AML regulations and compliance obligations
* Previous MLRO or compliance experience preferred (or readiness to step into the role)
* Strong attention to detail and risk awareness
* Excellent communication and organisational skills
