Senior Children's Residential Worker (Cae Bryn House) – Bridgend County Borough Council
Join to apply for the Senior Children's Residential Worker role at Guardian Jobs. 32 hours per week. The homes provide placements for children/young people aged 6 to 18 years who cannot live with their own family. The service aims to provide a stimulating, safe, caring environment and a holistic approach to the child/young person’s life. The role involves working across services as needed, supporting the residential service and managing shifts, reports, health and safety, key work, petty cash, medication, supervising staff, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
Responsibilities
* Organise and run shifts; attend meetings and write reports.
* Ensure health and safety and regulatory compliance; support key working; manage petty cash and medication where required.
* Supervise staff and contribute to service development and quality of care.
* Provide an individualised package of support for children/young people based on assessed needs.
* Offer therapeutically informed interventions to promote personal well-being.
* Assist children/young people to explore issues, emotions, and experiences that may affect placement stability.
* Support development of personal skills, confidence and self-esteem; provide educational support to promote outcomes.
* Work with families or substitute families to support transitions and promote independence when returning home or moving to other placements.
* Provide age-appropriate independent living programmes to develop necessary skills for potential independent living.
Qualifications and requirements
* Senior level role; substantial experience in children's residential care; suitably qualified according to the qualification framework.
* Be based in one service with ability to work across services as needed.
* Commitment to professional development and to developing the workforce under your charge.
* Ability to work to highest standards to maintain regulatory compliance and support outcomes for children and young people.
* Welsh language ability is a requirement for this post.
* Enhanced DBS check for children and adults; completion of vaccination/sleeping-in and weekend standby duties are required.
* Sleeping In, Weekend Working, Standby Duties are a requirement of this post.
