Outsourcing Senior Manager (Making Tax Digital for Income Tax)

We have several offices in Central and Southern England and have ambitious plans to expand our business. To support the organisation’s growth and Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT), we have created a new opportunity for an Outsourcing Senior Manager to join our team. This is a permanent full-time role with hybrid and flexible working options (flexing your hours on different days to suit your lifestyle).
The Role
Your key responsibilities will be:
* Develop and implement a centralised service model to handle quarterly reporting obligations under MTD IT.
* Build workflows, team structures, and digital processes that support high-volume, standardised delivery.
* Work with partners to define scope, segmentation, and strategic rollout phases.
* Pricing and commercial model
* Refine tiered pricing structures that reflect service complexity, effort, and risk.
* Define quoting tools/templates and ensure consistency in proposal generation.
* Monitor profitability and client lifetime value, adjusting as needed.
* Client communication and onboarding
* Create and implement a communication plan to inform, educate and convert existing clients to the new model.
* Own the onboarding process: from data capture and software setup to initial submissions.
* Drive adoption of digital recordkeeping tools, being predominantly Xero and Landmark.
* Digital transformation
* Lead the migration of clients from manual/legacy systems to compliant digital solutions.
* Establish SOPs and training to ensure team-wide consistency in digital processes.
* Partner with vendors as needed to integrate tools and manage costs.
* BAU transition and scale
* Recruit, train and manage a delivery team (in-house or outsourced).
* Implement dashboards, KPIs and reporting to monitor team performance and client compliance.
* Continually refine processes as volumes increase and regulations evolve.
* Final declaration and year-end integration
* Ensure robust processes are in place to manage final declaration under MTD IT, aligning quarterly data with year-end adjustments and disclosures.
* Establish clear protocols for reconciling digital records with final tax positions, ensuring compliance and accuracy across all client types.
* Work closely with the Tax Team to:
* Share and review data throughout the year.
* Identify and address discrepancies or anomalies in advance.
* Coordinate timing of final submissions to HMRC.
* Develop a joined-up service model that ensures the MTD team complements and enhances the year-end tax function, avoiding duplication and ensuring a seamless client experience.
* Champion a strong internal partnership ethos, aligning digital and traditional compliance work to maximise efficiency and service quality.

About You
We are seeking a commercially astute and operationally strong Senior Manager to lead the development of a centralised service line in response to Making Tax Digital for Income Tax (MTD IT). We would like to hear from you if you have the following:
* Senior manager level in a practice, with demonstrable experience in operational delivery.
* Deep knowledge of MTD IT, or a proven ability to build new service lines in a regulated environment.
* Strong commercial acumen – pricing, margin control, and workflow optimisation.
* Experienced in process design, systems implementation, and team leadership.
* Clear, confident communicator – both internally and externally.
* Provable experience in pricing and service design.
* Experience with client onboarding and digital transformation
* Drive to take a project from setup through to BAU.
