Go back Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Sexual Health Clinical Fellow

The closing date is 15 July 2025

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Sexual Health Service (SHS) as a Clinical Fellow in Sexual Health at Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (SFHT). The post is based at King's Mill Hospital but the successful appointee may also work at other community SHS sites across Nottinghamshire.

The SHS is a modern, comprehensive sexual health service and a wide range of contraception care is provided, including the management of complex contraception care, insertion and removal of intrauterine contraception devices/systems, implant procedures and injectable contraception. The service also provides genitourinary medicine (GUM) services for sexually transmitted infection (STI) care, genital infections/conditions, and HIV outpatient care.

We are looking for a motivated and committed person with experience in sexual health to be part of our friendly and forward-thinking multidisciplinary team and complement our existing team who provide GUM, SRH and HIV outpatient services.

Main duties of the job

The main duties are to provide outpatient sexual health services for contraception provision as well as STI and genital infections/conditions treatment and care. These are mainly through face to face clinics.

You will be expected to work within national guidelines and standard operating procedures within the service.

Duties will also include teaching and training of other clinicians, such as resident doctors, medical students and nurses, as well as other clinical and non-clinical staff.

Active involvement in departmental and Trust audit/clinical governance is expected in collaboration with other staff in the department.

The person specifications for the post are detailed in the Job Description and Person Specifications, which is attached.

About us

We are an award-winning NHS Foundation Trust working alongside health and social care colleagues across the county to provide acute and community healthcare services to more than 420,000 people across Mansfield, Ashfield, Newark and Sherwood, and parts of Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

We put the patient at the heart of everything that we do and it is our aim to make sure that every patient is treated as we would want a member of our own family to be treated. At the same time, we expect our staff to be caring, kind and courteous to each other and to look out for each other. We believe that we are truly a clinically-led organisation.

We are proud that our Trust colleagues have voted us the best acute Trust to work for in the East Midlands for seven years running in the National NHS Staff Survey, while the Care Quality Commission has rated our Trust as 'outstanding' for care and our King's Mill Hospital as the only 'outstanding' NHS-run hospital in the East Midlands.
