This role is accountable for performing imaging procedures, including MRI, CT, X-ray, DEXA, or Ultrasound, and guiding Radiographers and Radiographic Assistants in their daily activities. The role requires professionalism to ensure a high-quality, patient-focused service.
Role Responsibilities: Clinical
1. Undertake a variety of imaging examinations on different equipment, acting as a Practitioner as defined within IR(ME)R 2017. Assess referrals and decide whether to proceed, modify, or reject examinations.
2. Determine and deliver appropriate imaging procedures to assist diagnosis and treatment. This may involve discussing and refusing requests based on IR(ME)R regulations.
3. Prepare patients for imaging, explain procedures, ensure comfort, and proper positioning. Verify referrals and advise on protocols as needed.
4. Complete patient identification and safety checks before imaging.
5. Produce high-quality images, administer contrast media following PGD guidance, SOPs, and protocols. Assess images for quality and clinical significance, escalating urgent findings.
6. Complete and post-process examinations, and allocate images for reporting daily. Maintain clinical areas, including linen change and cleanliness. Supervise junior staff when required.
