Overview
Lead General Practitioner - Hallgarth Surgery at IntraHealth (NHS Primary Care services provider). We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced GP to take a leading role in improving patient outcomes, especially in diabetes, and contribute to redesigning services locally by representing the practice at PCN and ICS level. We host various trainees and welcome a GP who is willing to mentor trainees or students in the practice.
We offer a flexible approach to division of roles within our small, friendly, and experienced practice team. The clinical team is well supported by administration and management, allowing GPs to concentrate on clinical work. We encourage involvement in practice decisions, service developments, and continuous improvement with a focus on maintaining high QOF results.
Responsibilities
* Deliver Primary Medical Services via surgeries, clinics, and visits as defined by the job plan.
* Make professionally autonomous decisions in relation to presenting problems (self-referred or internally referred).
* Assess patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed problems and develop care plans with the patient.
* Provide counselling and health education; admit or discharge patients and refer to other care providers as appropriate.
* Work with and support other health professionals to ensure best patient care.
* Provide clinical leadership for the delivery of the clinical service and identify key internal/external processes that support the service.
* Promote the IntraHealth vision and recruit/mentor staff, supporting appraisal, professional development and performance management.
* Continuously improve process reliability, strive for high quality outcomes, and ensure patient-focused service delivery.
* Promote a culture of change and innovation and eliminate wasteful activity; ensure clinical governance and cost-effectiveness across the service.
* Monitor and deliver against targets for access, triage and clinical interventions; implement action plans for any areas of non-achievement.
* Provide clinical support in handling complaints and ensure responses meet timescales; review staff performance and significant events.
* Maintain records in line with Data Protection, Access to Records and Freedom of Information requirements; support recruitment of clinical staff and mentor nurses in advanced clinical skills development.
* Support development of clinical roles of other healthcare professionals to complement the GP role.
* Uphold equality and diversity commitments and statutory obligations; promote confidentiality, information governance, and safeguarding policies.

Qualifications
Essential
* Registered with the GMC on the GP Register with evidence of revalidation
* Qualified medical degree and continued professional development
* Appropriate medical indemnity cover (MDU/MPS/MDDUS)
* Appropriate safeguarding training
* Registered on the National Medical Performers List
Desirable
* Management qualification or equivalent experience
* Experience in leadership development and staff performance management
* Interest in teaching allied health professionals/GP registrars and diabetes
