Job summary

Bankfields is an assessment and treatment unit for individuals with a learning disability and or autism. We are looking for enthusiastic Healthcare Assistants to join our expanding team. You must be passionate about improving service users quality of life be able to role model and work as a team. The individuals we care for are at the most challenging times of their lives and need individuals that have a degree of resilience and can show they can care for them with compassion and empathy.

You must have the Right to Work in the UK in order to be successfully appointed to this role. Please note, this role does not meet the required eligibility criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker visa and therefore the Trust is unable to offer sponsorship for this particular role.

Main duties of the job

You will join a team of highly skilled and committed individuals ensuring that person centred and holistic care is provided at all times.

We provide a person centred activity plan which incorporates activities in house and within the local community.

The successful candidate must have completed the Diploma in Health and Social Care Level 2 or equivalent. Candidates must also have Literacy and Numeracy level 2 or equivalent and must complete the Trust Healthcare Assistant competencies within their probationary period (first 6 months in role).

The successful candidates who do not have the required qualifications will be expected to enrol on the Healthcare Assistant Framework which will include the acquisition of the level 2 Diploma Health and Social Care, level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy or equivalent and achievement of competencies. You will have a maximum of 2 years to complete this.

Experience

Essential

1. Previous experience as a Band 2/3 HCA or equivalent in a care environment. (Trainee Post: no essential experience required)

Desirable

2. Previous experience of working with people with mental/social health needs or learning disabilities.

Knowledge

3. Knowledge of person centred care
4. Basic understanding of learning disability.

Skills

5. Effective verbal and written communication skills
6. Time management and the ability to prioritise effectively
7. Competency in record keeping (within agreedtimescale)
8. Approved techniques in physical intervention (within agreed timescale)

9. Competency in venepuncture

Qualifications

15. Diploma in Health and Social Care level 2 or equivalent (Trainee: must be achieved within 2 years of commencement inpost)

17. Successful completion of Trust's full HCA Framework within 6-month probationary period
18. Key skills in Literacy and Numeracy level 2 (Trainee: Successful completion of the Trust's full HCAFramework, including key skills in Literacy and Numeracy level 2, within 2 years of commencement in post)
