Job Overview
Band 6 Occupational Therapist - 9 month rotational post across Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (HHFT). The post offers diverse clinical experiences across multiple sites including Winchester (RHCH), Basingstoke (BNHH) and Andover (AWMH).
Rotations and Clinical Areas
* Front door (Emergency Department & Acute Assessment Unit) - RHCH & BNHH
* Medicine - RHCH & BNHH
* Coronary Care, Oncology & Gynaecology - BNHH
* Surgery - RHCH & BNHH
* Long Term Conditions and Elderly Care - RHCH & BNHH
* Inpatient rehabilitation - Kingfisher ward, AWMH
* Therapy Supported Discharge outreach team - RHCH
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of the acute therapy team within a multidisciplinary team (OT, PT, therapy practitioners, therapy assistants).
* Promote patient independence through early acute inpatient rehabilitation.
* Assess patients' current needs, deliver ongoing acute therapy interventions and facilitate discharge planning.
* Lead service improvement projects and supervise therapy colleagues.
* Provide clinical support and guidance to Band 5 OT, PT, Band 4 therapy practitioners, Band 3 therapy assistants and therapy students.
Qualifications
* Broad clinical experience within acute hospital settings.
* Passion for inpatient acute hospital care, acute rehabilitation, and complex discharge planning.
* Strong communication skills and ability to work in a supportive team.
* Manual driving licence or access to a vehicle with business insurance, unless medically exempt.
* Commitment to working 50% of bank holidays and weekly weekend rota (approximately one weekend per month).
Working Hours & Commitments
7-day service from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, including bank holidays. Band 6 clinicians receive peer support and formal supervision from a Band 7 therapist.
