Time Recruitment is proud to be partnering with a respected Independent Chartered Commercial Insurance Broker based in Little Lever, Bolton, to recruit an experienced Claims Handler.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a skilled claims professional-particularly someone confident in Employers' Liability and Public Liability (EL/PL)-to join a growing brokerage with a strong reputation, a supportive culture, and a diverse portfolio of commercial and personal lines clients.
The Role
As a Claims Handler, you'll take ownership of a varied caseload spanning multiple classes of business. You'll be the key point of contact for clients, insurers, and third parties, ensuring claims progress efficiently and that every client receives exceptional service.
This role offers genuine variety and the chance to broaden your technical expertise across multiple lines along with a particular focus on ELPL.
Key Responsibilities
* Assess and review new claims to determine coverage and liability
* Acknowledge claims promptly and maintain clear communication with clients and insurers
* Investigate and gather evidence to support decision-making
* Negotiate settlements with insurers, claimants, and other stakeholders
* Ensure all claims are handled in line with FCA guidelines and internal procedures
* Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and a proactive diary system
* Deliver outstanding customer service and uphold high care standards
* Build strong working relationships with clients and insurer partners
* Stay informed on industry developments, including changes within the childcare sector
* Prepare detailed claims reports for Account Executives on larger or complex cases
* Participate in ongoing training and development, including T&C requirements
Experience & Skills
Essential:
* Minimum 3 years' experience in the commercial insurance sector
* Proven experience handling Employers' Liability and Public Liability claims
* Strong communication skills-both written and verbal
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
* Confident negotiator with strong analytical ability
* Competent in Word, Excel, and Outlook
* Effective time-management and team-working skills
Desirable:
* Experience across multiple classes of claims
* GCSEs (A-C) including Maths and English
