Role Overview
Your main focus will be on developing and progressing the Hazardous Waste (HW) regulatory reform associated with the Waste Tracking Service (WTS). This is an exciting role that will make a real difference!
The Hazardous Waste Regulatory Reform Project Lead will play a crucial role in navigating complex regulatory landscapes, implementing reforms, and driving the project to successful completion. Your expertise will be highly valuable in ensuring the successful implementation of the reform.
Key Responsibilities
* Coordinate and collate input from EA HW teams regarding regulatory and policy requirements of the regime.
* Provide technical input to the EA Waste Tracking team.
* Advise the Defra digital team on the development and design of the Waste Tracking Service, using your technical expertise to ensure it meets business needs.
* Provide technical insight/feedback into Defra policy discussions to ensure the Hazardous Waste Regime's requirements are incorporated into the Waste Tracking Service.
* Engage with devolved nations regarding Waste Tracking Service requirements.
In addition, you will:
* Provide leadership on future Hazardous Waste charging proposals and consultations, advising on technical aspects and links to waste tracking.
* Support wider regulatory reform related to the Hazardous Waste Regulations.
* Support and contribute to the wider Hazardous Waste team.
The Team
The Environment & Business (E&B) Hazardous Waste team is a small, high-performing team within the Regime Regulation team of E&B Waste Regulation. We lead the business on hazardous waste, supporting government, industry, and colleagues to ensure proper waste management. We promote a positive, inclusive, and supportive culture where everyone feels valued, using evidence, expertise, engagement, and innovation to influence policy, legislation, and resource allocation.
