Financial Accountant
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join a leading university and play a key role in managing financial reporting, treasury, and taxation functions. This is a leadership role, offering the chance to drive improvements and ensure compliance with financial regulations.
The Role
Reporting to the Deputy Director of Finance, you will lead a team of six (4 FTE) and be responsible for:
* Managing the Financial Accounting Team, including appraisals, performance monitoring, development, and recruitment.
* Preparing quarterly and annual accounts for the Group and its subsidiary companies.
* Overseeing statutory returns and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
* Providing authoritative advice on Financial Reporting Standards, particularly FRS 102.
* Managing the treasury function, including cash flow forecasting and investment management.
* Leading on taxation matters, including VAT and corporation tax compliance.
* Ensuring robust financial controls and risk management procedures are in place.
About You
We’re looking for a qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) with:
✔ Strong financial accounting and reporting experience, including knowledge of FRS 102 ✔ Proven leadership skills, with experience in team management and development ✔ Expertise in treasury management and taxation, including VAT and corporation tax ✔ A keen eye for detail, strong analytical skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving ✔ Experience preparing statutory accounts for complex organisations
