An opportunity has arisen for a Band 5 Senior Assistant Practitioner post within the Neuro‑Oncology research team. Ideally the postholder should have previous clinical research experience in the field of cancer; a degree-level education is required. The role works within the guidelines and policies for the conduct of clinical trials, ensuring high standards in accordance with GCP.
The successful applicant will demonstrate flexibility, work both independently and as part of the team, and possess excellent communication, administrative and IT skills. Supportive and open to new initiatives are particularly valued.
Responsibilities
The post holder will primarily work under the supervision of senior research staff and will support registered nurses in the delivery of care to patients participating in Neuro‑Oncology clinical trials. The role will be autonomous in workload and responsible for recruiting to and coordinating a portfolio of non‑interventional research projects, including biological sample processing (training will be provided). Key duties include day‑to‑day management, identifying patients through MDTs or screening notes, explaining studies to patients at the informed‑consent stage, collecting data, designing local study databases, completing data entry, and liaising with external trial centres. The post holder may also assist with quality‑of‑life questionnaires or related data collection.
The SAP will work closely with the multidisciplinary team including medical staff, research nurses, coordinators, site‑specific teams, oncology groups, clinical nurse specialists, clinic staff and radiographers.
