Team Manager – Assessment & Intervention Team
Full‑time role, based in Slough, fixed‑term contract of 12 months.
Salary
Up to £62,405 per annum.
Responsibilities
* Lead a team of Senior Social Workers and Social Workers in the delivery of statutory and legislative duties, fostering a supportive and collaborative working environment while promoting the welfare of vulnerable children and young people in Slough and effectively managing risk.
* Oversee the distribution of caseloads to ensure that each child or young person’s needs are met appropriately.
* Carry out regular quality assurance activities including observations, case reviews, team and peer‑moderated audits that involve staff to support their professional development, improve consistency of practice and seek families’ views.
* Attend Head of Service performance clinics, presenting clear narratives for team performance and actions needed to address areas for development.
* Create, implement and monitor a team plan linked to service and strategic objectives with the overall aim to improve performance.
* Lead team meetings to a high standard, ensuring that service and corporate messages are cascaded to the team in a timely manner and supporting effective two‑way communication back up to managers.
* Maintain own professional development through training and other mechanisms, keeping up to date with national, regional and local policy initiatives that impact service delivery and responding accordingly.
* Manage team complaints effectively and to a high standard in line with Slough Children First’s complaints procedure, ensuring prompt resolution and learning from complaints is shared with the team.
* Ensure all interventions are conducted within an anti‑discriminatory framework, taking into account race, gender, sexuality, disability and other factors to deliver appropriate services to Slough’s diverse communities.
* Deputise for the Head of Service, undertake projects and other duties as required, including work outside office hours when necessary.
Requirements
* Professional Social Work qualification or equivalent.
* Understanding of relevant legislation.
* Registered or eligible for registration.
* Relevant management qualification and experience.
* Substantial post‑qualification experience in children and families social work, with a collaborative and supportive approach.
