This is a Fixed Term Contract for 6 months We are looking for a proactive individual to manage the Council garage sites across the Borough. This is a crucial post and the post holder will work as part of the Housing Team and be responsible for the delivery of the garage management service, in accordance with the Council’s policies and working practices, delivering a first-class housing service that is value for money and customer focused. Key Responsibilities As a Garage Officer you will work as part of a team dealing with aspects of Estate and Tenancy Management. You will be the principal point of contact for residents, delivering a garage management service ensuring customers satisfaction and maximisation of the garage stock. You will be directly responsible for the service delivery and expected to: Take a proactive approach to garage allocation in order to maximise use of the garage stock Assist with the delivery of a modern garage management strategy Check void garages against the waiting list held, arrange repairs and allocate empty garages in accordance with the Council’s policies and procedures To undertake accompanied viewings with applicants, to liaise with Housing Services and Housing Hub Officers, contractors and in house teams with regard to the management of void garages Carry out inspections of garages in order to identify and rectify any health and safety or environmental issues, and to refer them to and liaise with the appropriate departments / agencies for a speedy resolution To maintain up-to-date statistical information as required You must have: Experience of working in front line service in a customer focused environment with a basic knowledge and understanding of Housing Management A full driving license and access to a vehicle or other satisfactory means of transport The ability to prioritise tasks against competing demands and deliver to very tight deadlines Be able to use Microsoft Office applications The ability to analyse written and numerical information and draw conclusions Good judgement in determining when to deal with a problem and when to refer it, or seek advice from others For further details about this role please refer to the Job Description and Personnel Specification attached.
