Salary: £109,725 - £145,478 per annum (Pro‑rata)
Contract: Fixed Term – 3 months
Hours: Full‑time 10 Programmed Activities (DCC:SPA = 7.5:2.5)
On call: Frequency 1:50; Category A – 3% on call supplement
Location: Barking Community Hospital, Upney Lane, Barking, Essex, IG11 9LX
Job Summary
Act as an Adult Consultant Psychiatrist within the West Mental Health & Wellness Team at Barking Community Hospital, supporting multidisciplinary care for adults in West Barking and Dagenham. The role is a 3‑month fixed term but offers a full‑time working pattern with on‑call duties.
Key Responsibilities
* Work as part of multidisciplinary teams providing care to adult people with mental health needs across West Barking and Dagenham.
* Provide senior medical support and guidance to the team.
* Work directly with adults and their families and liaise with external adult mental health providers and acute hospitals.
* Participate in the on‑call rota (currently 1:50) with a 3% basic salary Category A on‑call supplement.
* Support peers, team leader and be an effective team member, allowing them to work with their own initiative.
* Work alongside another Adult Consultant Psychiatrist and trainees within the service.
* Commit to collaborative working, actively supporting and liaising with other health and social professionals and agencies.
Qualifications and Registration
* Full GMC registration with a licence to practice.
* CCT or equivalent.
* Section 12 Approval or eligibility for it.
* Approved Clinician status, or eligibility for it.
* Inclusion in, or eligibility for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.
